About Us

“Kamilo`iki” means “little milo tree”.  According to legend, when the Gods created the Hawaiian Islands, they decided to make a special tree that was sacred to them. They wanted a tree with a strong stem to represent their strength, and one that had fruit to represent their fertility. They wanted one with flowers that captured the morning sun's brightness and the colors of the sunset. Most important, however, they wanted a tree with heart-shaped leaves to represent their love for the islands.  The symbol of Kamilo`iki School is a tri-leaved branch of the Milo tree with a flower in the center.
